O evento reúne os principais nomes do esporte no País, divididos em vários barcos de tamanhos e classes diferentes.
Em média, mais de 120 veleiros de todos os estados e até estrangeiros participam das regatas em Ilhabela, no Litoral Norte de São Paulo. As provas são realizadas tradicionalmente no mês de julho impactando positivamente no turismo de Ilhabela, com alta demanda da infra estrutura turística entre hotéis, pousadas e restaurantes.
Organizada pelo Yacht Club de Ilhabela – YCI, a Semana de Vela de Ilhabela conta com apoio da Prefeitura de Ilhabela e da Marinha do Brasil.
